I know there are so many people out there who are not exactly thrilled about writing essays. Well, I was one of them until I realized that the process can be a lot easier if you just break down the things that you need to do and just take one step at a time. You may want to consider the following techniques the next time you write an essay:
First thing to do is to choose the topic or subject that you’re going to write about. As much as possible, choose those that you have a strong opinion on or those that you know very well. This task will obviously become a lot easier if you like the topics that you’re discussing. Then, ensure that your topics are interesting and timely. You would want your target audience to want to read your essay, right?
Gather as much information as possible. Although you’re allowed to present your opinion about your topic on your essay, it’s important that you back them up with reliable data. So, before you start writing, gather as much information as possible. Check out relevant resources from a local library and use the internet when needed. Interview experts if you must and conduct surveys. The more information you gather, the better your chances of effectively presenting your arguments; the higher your chances of making your essay more convincing.
Decide on the angle that you’re going to target. You don’t need to decide on the angle that you’ll explore the moment you choose your topic. This will usually happen when you’re doing your research. Find angles that are catchy and interesting. As much as possible, you would want to target those angles that were not yet explored by other writers so you can offer your readers with something new.
Plan your content. Next step is to list down the ideas or arguments that you’re going to include in your essay. Ensure that they’re closely relevant to your main topic. You can explore these ideas using short paragraphs. Also, ensure that the ideas that you’re going to present will not contradict each other. You don’t want to confuse your readers, right?
Keep your readers in mind. Always consider the people who’ll read your essay when writing them. To ensure that these people will understand the message that you’re trying to get across, write using their language and write while considering their level of comprehension.
